Horst Group Shows Support for UDS
Employees raise $1,400 for non-profit at fundraising event
Lancaster, PA (September 10, 2009) – Employees at the Horst Group once again showed their exemplary support of United Disabilities Services (UDS) at a fundraising event held in late August. The annual “Horst Grille” brought together approximately 100 Horst employees, along with invited guests, UDS staff and volunteers, and raised $1,400 to benefit the organization’s work in serving those with disabilities.
Horst CEO Randall Horst and UDS CEO Jerry Meck were among company executives who grilled burgers, hot dogs and sausages, which were sold along with other treats, for a small donation. The event included a visit from the new puppies of the UDS Service Dogs program and numerous raffles for company prizes.
Since 2003, when the company adopted UDS as its “Charity of Choice,” the Horst Group has contributed over $115,000 through a workplace giving campaign, corporate gifts and special events. Horst Group employees comprise the organization’s most active company volunteers, with 68 employees volunteering for UDS in some capacity in 2008.
Local companies that donated food and other products to the cause included Ace the Party Place, Aramark, Columbia Cottages, Darrenkamp’s, Feesers, Giant Foods, Horst Construction, Horst Insurance, Lasting Image, Leidy’s Pork Products, UTZ Foods, Stauffers of Kissel Hill and Weis Market.
